Plunge into music and singing this summer!  Youth pro Musica invites young people ages 8 to 18 who love to sing and perform to attend our Summer Workshop.  The Workshop is the ideal setting for singers to learn new skills, challenge themselves and befriend other young people who share their interests.

YpM’s Summer Workshop will help each singer to develop his or her vocal technique and musicianship.  The team aspect to choral singing is important, too.  Robert Barney is the Director of the Workshop.  Mr. Barney and his staff  work hard to cultivate a supportive  atmosphere, where young people are comfortable learning and making new friends.  The week will culminate with a concert to demonstrate for families and friends what has been learned in just one week.  The concert will be held on Friday, August 26 at 7:00 pm at Second Church.

The day’s activities begin at 9:30 am and conclude at 3:00 pm.  (Drop-off is between 9:00 and 9:30 am.)   Singers attending the Workshop will take part in various classes, seminars, and other activities, including:

  • Voice Class
  • Music  Theory
  • Sight Singing and Ear Training
  • Diction
  • Small Ensemble Rehearsals
  • Full Chorus Rehearsals

Classes and ensemble groups are based on a singer’s age and prior musical training.  Participants will bring increased confidence and knowledge to their  musical pursuits during the upcoming school year.   YpM invites you to experience the joy, discipline and fellowship of choral singing this summer!

Please note that if you have never auditioned for Youth pro Musica, Mr. Barney would like to meet you before the Workshop for a placement audition which takes about 10 minutes.  (The purpose is to determine voice parts and classroom assignments.)  Times are open August 7-9, 6-9 pm,  and other dates as needed.  The fee for the Summer Workshop is $225 (+ $10 online registration fee).  Registration is open until August 15 or until spaces are filled.
